
Mr. Patrick Fong graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design in 1975 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Industrial Design. Fong is a registered professional interior designer for both IIDA (U.S.A) and CSD (U.K). He was elected as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Interior Design Association from 1993 to 1995.
In 1999, Mr. Fong received the “Design Export Award” organized by The Hong Kong Trade Development Council and in 2000 he was nominated as one of “The 2000 Most Influential Interior Architects for the 20th Century”. Mr. Fong has given speeches on various occasions in regards to his design experience, such as for the Institute of Interior Design of Architecture of China, the American Hardwood Convention at Shanghai, the Asia Floor Expo and the Arts and Career at the Hong Kong Art Center.
Mr. Fong is a renowned designer with over 35 years of experience. His completed projects range from shopping arcades, corporate headquarters to hotel and service apartments, located in Mainland China, Hong Kong and South East Asia. Major completed projects include the Pacific Place, Times Square, Hang Seng Bank Headquarters Building, China World Trade Center in Beijing, Penang Holiday Inn and the Labour Bureau in Ohio, USA. Mr. Fong is an expert on designing large shopping arcades. He has successfully created different styles of shopping arcades to suit the market's need.
In addition to his professional career, Mr. Fong taught at the Hong Kong University and the Technical College. He also sat on the judging panel for the Asia Pacific Interior Design Award competition and the examination panels for various design colleges. Presently Mr. Fong is the visiting professor for the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou China. In 2005, he established the “Most Original Design Award- Patrick Fong” in China to encourage the young designer on creative thinking.
